Dear Noel, I’m in third year managing my local team. We’ve narrowly avoided relegation over the last two years. But now I’d like to push things on a bit. The other night it came to me – bring a corner-forward out to play as third midfielder? Have you ever heard this done before? - Eoin, East Timor (emailing you on my holidays, I actually live in West Carlow.) |

Dear Noel, I am ten years playing for my club. However, this season I am playing very poorly. I don’t know why this is happening. I have been mentioned regularly in the ‘played wells’ in match reports. Other stuff too. I won Junior Player of the Year once. I even got called up to the club senior panel for a few league games at the end of the season once. I’m afraid I might have become a bad player overnight. - Arthur (28) |

Dear Noel,
I’ve moved into a house with three lads. One’s a free-taker.
He never stops talking about trajectory, loft, prevailing winds, climate change, the far post, global warming, polar ice-caps, and allowing for the breeze. At night, he commentates to himself, imitating Darragh Moloney and shouting “he’s got it, round the corner, beautifully-dispatched.”
It’s wearing me down. My question is: is it possible to get Chronic Fatigue Syndrome from over-exposure to a free-taker?
