Bring Back The Drop-kick Campaign, Part 2 PDF Print E-mail
Written by The Knowledgeable Noel Corporation

As promised last week, my Five-Point Plan To Revive The Drop-Kick

1. Give two points for every point scored with a drop-kick, and four points for every goal, in football and hurling.

2. Lobby Government to increase the grants to inter-county players if they officially endorse the drop-kick. All players must at least two drop-kicks per game.

3. Increased REPS payments for farmers who incorporate drop-kicking into their game, and also into their         day-to-day life around the farm.

4. Promote t-shirts with slogans such as: “If I can’t ate it, shift it, or flog it – I’ll drop-kick it”; “Drop-kickers do it from a standing start”; “Drop-kickers drive it further.”

5. One from Frank, Leenane, Co. Mayo: “A Drop Kick Fada tournament – It could be held on the roads of Armagh or Cork, like the road-bowling All-Ireland. It would really showcase this ancient art.”

NEXT WEEK: Frank from Leenane was just one of many readers to email suggestions for the Bring Back The Drop Kick Campaign (BBDKC). We will publish more next week. Email us if you’ve any bright ideas.
